A brand of designer tableware, interior items and jewelry made of laminated Murano glass.
Vetrofuso is the atelier of Italian designer Daniela Poletti Zino. A teacher by education, she is an artist. And also – she is fluent in craft techniques for working with Murano glass. Daniela implements all her creative ideas herself, and for this she had to learn a lot. At some point, having decisively changed her life, she became an apprentice in restoration workshops, cutting glass, preparing fragments of stained-glass windows. Then she trained in America and Germany. From someone else’s experience and extensive practice in glass fusing (“glass baking”), her own technology, author’s methods of work, were gradually born.
Today, Daniela has the official title of Maestra Vetraia, plus the honorary Donna del Gusto Italiano (“Woman of Italian Taste”), contracts with leading Italian fashion brands and many loyal clients around the world.
Daniela is married to a man who shares her creative and business ambitions and they have two children. Among the artist’s hobbies are floristry, knitting and beading.
Forget traditional Murano glass ideas! In the Vetrofuso atelier, it undergoes an absolutely magical transformation. Daniela Poletti works with glass plates in the same way as with layers of dough in the kitchen. Connects multi-colored layers, cuts off excess, sometimes adds “decorations” (bronze figurines, medals, letters), puts them into molds and sends them to the oven! Melted, reborn, glass acquires amazing lines (sometimes unpredictable!) And amazing colors. The latter become even more expressive after manual polishing (yes, all the work is manual – that’s why it’s valuable!).
In this way, fragments of future jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, rings) and Christmas decorations are created, as well as whole vases of inimitable shape, luxurious dishes, plates, salad bowls, bowls, ashtrays… All items are very decorative, but at the same time functional. And most importantly, no two are exactly the same! Uniqueness is a wonderful signature of real author’s creations.
